The problem

When Cloudworks first became involved with McCann in 2016, the company utilised on-premises servers and infrastructure for both Microsoft Exchange email and file storage.

Cloudworks highlighted the option of the Microsoft Cloud Suite and how it could benefit their business. McCann now had two options; they could either purchase new hardware and software whilst continuing to manage and needing support for their own on-premise email and server infrastructure, or they could move to a subscription based model utilising Office 365 that provides all of the support and maintenance required.

In addition, the existing IT support provided to McCann was slow and ineffective. The business needed a more dynamic support arrangement that could provide proactive onsite and remote support for their growing user base.

The Solution

Cloudwork's history of providing successful on-premise, hybrid and cloud based solutions enabled McCann to make an informed decision on the future of their IT systems and develop a sound cloud strategy.

The initial task was to migrate McCann's current users to Office 365 with Exchange Online and reduce the dependency on the internal servers.
Following the successful migration, Cloudworks worked with key stakeholders in the business to deliver a comprehensive proactive support program for both end users and onsite IT trained staff.

Using the built in technologies available in the Microsoft platform, Cloudworks was able to setup policies for security and remote monitoring/backup of key systems.

By deploying solutions such as Advanced Threat Protection, McCann could protect against the increase in daily security threats from viruses, spam and anti-phishing attempts. Comprehensive policies were put in place to proactively monitor data flow in/out of the business and significantly reduce reactive support required dealing with security issues.

The Benefits

With less time managing on-premise servers and systems, McCann with continued mentoring from Cloudworks are now working on improving their business processes by expanding into the full suite of Microsoft Cloud services. This includes delivering process improvements and automation as well as improving communications throughout the geographically diverse user estate with SharePoint and OneDrive.
